Sweet little Dutchess and Cleopatra are Maltese sisters who have always lived together, and need to stay together. They are tiny, only 6-7 lbs., and although they are seniors at 9-10 years old, they are affectionate, lively and playful. Their story is heartbreaking: They were the companions of an elderly man from St. Thomas who sadly had to give them up when he learned he was dying. The girls then spent five months in the shelter there and survived not one, but two Cat 5 hurricanes (Irma and Maria), which devastated their Caribbean island and chance to find find a new home there. Transported to Long Island by a rescuer with a private plane, they are looking for love and a new family. They are housebroken, have had their shots and are heartworm negative. Duchess is blind, and Cleopatra watches over her gentle sister. They are wonderful little girls.
